Last Friday, what started out as a charity doubles match between legends Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras turned into a game of the dozens. First, Sampras, who was teamed with Roger Federer, decided to make fun of Agassi’s pigeon-toed “duck walk”. Agassi, teamed with Rafael Nadal, responded to the jest with a claim that he first mentioned in his tell all book (in addition to some other things including Crystal Meth use): the fact that Sampras is reportedly cheap in his tipping of just about anyone. The retort came in the form of a high, hard serve that forced Agassi to duck. Needless to say this exchange went back and forth for a while as both players were mic’d up for the event.
Agassi spoke with ESPN’s Rick Reilly stating that he was “out of line” and apologized for his comments during the event. (ESPN)
